I Only Work 3 Days A Week - Here's How My Business Continues To Thrive:
Oct 14, 2025
I haven’t worked on a Monday or Friday in over 4 years.
Yep, you read that right and I bet you're probably thinking, "How in the world can you have a successful business only working 3 days a week?!"
So, let me explain and tell you what I do instead and how my business continues to thrive:
It all started when my son was born. I wanted more time with him, but didn’t want to quit my business so I decided to take Fridays off.
Once that was going well, I wanted to try to take Mondays off too. I actually did it for a few weeks before telling my team to see if there would be a negative impact ☺ No one even noticed, and nothing fell apart.
My initial thought when I first had the idea to take off Fridays was “I can’t do that!”
I still had the old 9-5 mindset. But I thought about it and realized there was truly nothing holding me back from making it happen - except for me thinking I couldn’t.
Instead of working those days, I’m on full mom duty with our two kids, so the majority of the time I’m doing all the mom things related to that. We go to playgrounds, fun indoor and outdoor kid places, I feed them nonstop snacks, etc. But also…
During baby girl’s nap, I bake fresh breads for our family, play 1:1 with our older boy, take care of the household, do some land work, run errands, etc.
I’m glad I don’t work on those days anymore and get the chance to take care of household things so it’s not piled onto the weekend plus spend more time with our kids BUT… it’s honestly exhausting and those days are REALLY long.
The first thing I did to make working only 3 days a week a reality was to decide that’s what I was going to do and I’d find a way to make it happen. It meant making some business shifts for sure!
I've come to realize there are 2 big reasons my business continues to run seamlessly online while I enjoy life offline:
1. We have systems, processes, and SOPs (standard operating procedures) in place for absolutely everything my business does.
This allows my team to run things and know exactly what to do in every situation even when I’m not around.
Even if you don’t have a team (yet) consider putting SOPs in place because it will help you to not have to remember everything and be prepared whenever you do want to bring on a team member you can just share the documents with them.
2. I have an absolutely incredible team
My team runs majority of the agency side of the business (our Freelancer Matching and Find A Freelancer programs) without me having to do a whole lot.
Having the right team members can make a world of difference- it’s not just about filling a seat.
